The Round the Island Race is something of a unique event in the sporting calendar and is one of the largest mass-participation events in the UK.
In 2022 year more than 1117 boats took part in the race!

The race takes place once a year and is a real fete for everybody. But why not sail that route any other day?
On average, a distance of 50-60 miles takes 8-10 hours of sailing. So it will be Day Sailing, but with out any stops.

The plan might be as follows:

09:00 a.m. - meet at the Royal Clarence Marina.

09:30 a.m. - Departure to the Solent, sail around the Isle of Wight

07/09:00 p.m. - return to Royal Clarence Marina.

But since we are sailing, we need to consider that it could be faster or longer. In last weekend's race, our boat Tango went the distance in 8:15h.

We cater from beginners to Yachtmasters keeping everybody involved. We practise different sailing skills depending upon the conditions and everybody helms(steers) taking it in turns throughout the weekend, hoists and trims sails learning as we go along and those more experienced that want to be involved with the planning help with the tidal calculations and the managing of the yacht .

It is a fantastic and memorable yacht sailing experience to take part in. Do not be put off if you are a beginner and if you are a seasoned sailor take advantage of the tidal planning and more advanced skippering techniques that you will be assisted with.
